Rotorua double for Trelawney graduates
11 May 2019

Arawa Park proved a happy hunting ground for Trelawney Stud graduates on Saturday.

Nordic (Ocean Park x Queen Cha Cha) got proceedings underway when winning the Atkinson & Donaldson Plumbing 2200.

The Murray Baker and Andrew Forsman trained three-year-old gelding was coming off a runner-up performance at the same track and distance last month.

Jockey Jonathan Riddell had the situation under control from the jump and the pair went to the line untroubled to win by 3.5L.

Bred by IDL Racing, Nordic was purchased by Bruce Perry out of Trelawney Stud's 2017 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier draft.

Equally impressive was Campari (O'Reilly x Lillet) winning the Martin Barry 1400 in the silks of Go Racing who purchased the four-year-old mare out of Trelawney Stud's 2016 New Zealand Bloodstock Premier draft.

Campari was having her second start back in New Zealand following a successful Australian campaign towards the end of last year where she won two of her five starts.

Jockey Leith Inness settled her midfield before making a move turning for home. The hit the front in the straight and scored a comfortable win by a length from Stephen Marsh stablemate Ritani.
