Addison out to back up Caulfield success
04 Jan 2018

Lightly raced Addison (Jimmy Choux x Ruqqaya) is slowly building her racing career.

Now a four-year-old, Addison has had four starts, registering three wins, and is already with her third trainer.

She started out with Darren Weir, but after running last in a barrier trial at Stawell in July 2016, was transferred to Patrick Payne.

She won two starts at Stawell and Benalla for Payne before being transferred to Lindsay Park.

After a luckless first-up 10th at Bendigo over 1300m, Addison stepped up to 1700m to win on Boxing Day.

Addison rises from benchmark 70 grade to an 1800m-benchmark 78 race on Sunday and co-trainer Tom Dabernig believes she will relish the distance.

"She got there in the last hop and I think the 1800 metres will be ideal under the similar conditions," Dabernig said.

"And she looks to have improved fitness-wise.

"Peter Mahar owns her and we've trained for him over the years and I think he thought she might be suited by the farm.

"She's trained up there and enjoying it."

Addison was purchased by Belmont Bloodstock for $90,000 from Trelawney Stud's 2015 NZB Premier draft.  Her dam Ruqqaya is a half-sister to Cox Plate winner Ocean Park (Thorn Park).  The Savabeel yearling filly from the mare is part of a select draft that Trelawney will send to Sydney for the 2018 Inglis Easter Sale.
