Moore fancies Werther’s chances
22 Feb 2017

John Moore is growing in confidence with Werther (Tavistock x Bagalollies) ahead of Sunday’s Gr.1 Hong Kong Gold Cup.

“I was very pleased with his last run, it was what I expected given the stop-start prep he’s had,” he said of the Kiwi-bred son of Tavistock.

This could provide a timely pedigree update for lot 48 in Trelawney Stud's Inglis Easter draft, a full sister to Werther.

Reigning Hong Kong Horse of the Year Werther returned from a suspensory injury to finish sixth in the Gr.1 Stewards’ Cup over a mile a month ago and he has progressed well since.

“Judging by what the weatherman has said there’s some rain on the way, so there could be a cut in the ground, and we know what he can do when there’s a cut in the ground - look what he did in the QEII. If that materialises, I think he’s the one to beat in the race!” Moore said.
