Stephen Marsh has his eye on a lucrative
Christmas prize with his progressive mare Scarlet’s Secret (Savabeel x Scarlet Vanhara).
The Cambridge trainer produced the
four-year-old to double her winning tally when she accounted for her Rating 65
rivals at Te Awamutu on Tuesday. It was her first appearance since a maiden
success at Hastings in the autumn.
“It was hard to put her out on a winning
note, but she does need good tracks,” Marsh said. “We’ve always had faith in
her and she’s strengthened up quite a bit now.”
Marsh has set Scarlet’s Secret for the
Dunstan Feeds Rising Stars Championship, a 1500 metre event worth $80,000 at
Ellerslie on Boxing Day.
Scarlet's Secret was purchased by owners Go Racing from Trelawney Stud's 2014 NZB Premier draft for $150,000.
