Suavito racing career in limbo
05 Sep 2016

There is a chance Suavito (Thorn Park x Queen Cha Cha) has run her last race with connections to discuss the dual Group 1 winner's future in coming days.

The daughter of Thorn Park disappointed trainer Nigel Blackiston when she finished 10th, beaten 5.85 lengths, behind Awesome Rock in the Group 2 Dato' Tan Chin Nam Stakes at Moonee Valley on Saturday.

Blackiston said the six-year-old was ridden perfectly by Michael Walker but lacked the killer punch she'd shown in previous campaigns.

"Michael rode her 10 out of 10 and I thought the Suavito of old would have been right in the finish," Blackiston said.

"She's done a wonderful job, but maybe she just wants to be a broodmare.

"A decision will be made by ownership group in coming days."

The Dato' Tan Chin Nam Stakes was Suavito's second unplaced run of the campaign, following her sixth of 14 in the Group 2 Lawrence Stakes on August 13.

Suavito has raced 24 times for eight wins, including the 2015 Futurity Stakes and this year's C.F. Orr Stakes at Group 1 level.
