Trainer Bryce Heys has unveiled an exciting
Caulfield Guineas prospect in Trelawney graduate Travancore (Savabeel x Stella Livia) who won impressively at
Newcastle on Saturday.
Having just his second start, Travancore jumped
and settled at the rear of the field before swooping around the field and winning
with ease. Looking like a progressive
type with improvement to come, Travancore was only 2.3 seconds off the class
and track record.
This is a family Heys is familiar with,
having purchased the half-brother Spieth (Thorn Park) from Trelawney at Karaka the
year before. Spieth has gone on to win
four from seven starts, three of these in succession at the end of his last campaign.
Travancore was a $190,000 purchase for
Trelawney’s 2015 NZB draft, and the 3yo colt is nominated for the Caulfield
Guineas in October.
Stella Livia is the dam of three winners
from four to race. She has an Ocean Park
2yo colt, and a ShamExpress yearling who will head to Karaka in 2017. She
is currently in foal to ShamExpress.
