Master of Arts brings up Trelawney double
26 Jun 2016The Darren Weir trained Master of Arts (Mastercraftsman x Petit Verdot) gave Trelawney Stud a Flemington double when winning over 2520m.
The 4yo gelding jumped well from the inside draw and settled midfield. At the 650 jockey Michael Dee made his move and brought Master of Arts to the middle of the track to start his run. He finished well to run down stablemate Falgo and win by half a length.
Master of Arts was a $110,000 purchase by Waratah Thoroughbreds from Trelawney Stud's 2013 Inglis Easter draft. It is a family that Trelawney has had considerable success with as Petit Verdot is also the dam of Group 2 winner Antonio Lombardo (Pins). Fine Wine (Savabeel) and Irish Nip (O'Reilly) are also multiple winners in Australia.
This win brought Master of Arts' tally to five, having won three since April this year. The win also gave Michael Dee the final part of a winning treble at Flemington, and trainer Weir a double also.
