Imported mares pay dividends
25 May 2016Imported mare Enide (GB) (Shamardal) had an important pedigree update over the weekend with Saent (IRE) (Strategic Prince) winning the Gr.2 Italian Derby.
Enide was purchased by Trelawney with the help of bloodstock agent Paul Moroney. Since arriving in New Zealand the family has had valuable updates courtesy of her half-brothers Group One winner Empoli and Eigelstein who has won in Australia under Chris Waller.
Enide spent her first two seasons on Australia before arriving in New Zealand. Her first foal is a Sebring filly and she is currently in foal to Shooting To Win.
Fellow broodmare band member Stella Livia (GB) (Titus Livius) was another young mare imported by Trelawney. She raced in New Zealand before retiring to stud and is the dam of recent impressive Sydney winner Spieth (Thorn Park).
With a large international buying bench present at the major Australasian sales it has become increasingly important to provide pedigrees with international flavour, and it is pleasing to see the investment pay off.
