2016 Weanling and Broodmare Sale
13 May 2016The 2016 NZB Weanling, Broodmare and Mixed Bloodstock Sale has been hailed a resounding success with records smashed in each session.
All bar one of the Trelawney draft were sold, with the top price being $23,000 for Prosperity (Iffraaj), a half-sister to Gr.1 winner Vouvray and Syrah, the dam of Thordon Mile winner A Touch of Ruby.
Brent and Cherry Taylor busy not only selling, but purchasing as well. They have added stakes winner Jacquetta (Keeper) to the Trelawney broodmare band. She is likely to head to Australia for her first few seasons though no mating plans have been locked in as yet.
The Savabeel x Kahurangi weanling filly was also knocked down to the Taylors. Again no plans have been locked into place but it is likely she will be retained to race rather than act as a pin-hooking venture.
That sale concludes the 2016 auction series till the Ready to Runs later in the year. Trelawney would like to thank everyone that has selected bloodstock from their draft this year and wish them the best of luck with their purchases.
