08 Feb 2016The 2016 NZB Karaka sales have come to a close with a successful result for Trelawney Stud across both the Premier and Select sessions.
17 of the 19 presented in the Premier session were sold, with the farm retaining a spot in the top ten vendors list by aggregate. The top price for the draft was $325,000 for the popular Ocean Park x Ruud Van Slaats colt who will join the Victorian stable of Ciaron Maher.
The select session also had a high clearance rate with six of the seven finding a new home. The draft's top priced lot was the Savabeel x Starring colt who made $200,000 when sold to local purchasers Riversley Farm, who will likely prepare him as a Ready to Run prospect.

The combined sale results saw Trelawney come out with an average of $131,545, well above the sales average of $88,042.
It is always pleasing to see the yearlings go to homes where they will be given every opportunity to succeed and carry on the Trelawney winning tradition. The farm's graduates are always the best advertisement and Trelawney would like to thank all who purchased from the draft and wish them the best of luck.
There is an immense amount of work that occurs before the yearlings get to the ring. Brent and Cherry would like to thank not only their staff, but the vets, farriers, and Majestic Horse Transport who all play a part in generating a successful sale story.
The focus is now on the Inglis Easter sale where a draft of five will represent Trelawney across the Tasman. The draft can be viewed by clicking here.
