Karaka Day One summary
25 Jan 2016As the curtain comes down on the first day of the Premier session at Karaka Trelawney Stud are pleased to see that their yearlings are meeting the market.

"We have had a strong sale with the four nice colts we presented" said Brent Taylor.

"We have gone pretty well selling six out of eight so far and are working on the two passed in lots."

The first to go through was the Pins x Petit Verdot colt who sold for $90,000 to O'Brien Thoroughbreds, located in Victoria. 

Lot 49, The O'Reilly colt out of Ruqqaya will also be Australia bound after being knocked down for $220,000 to the Mick Price/Cameron Cooke combination.

Trelawney's top lot of the day was the Ocean Park x Ruud Van Slaats colt who had been a standout from a young age.  Again heading to Australia, he will join the stable of Ciaron Maher after he went to $325,000 for the colt.

The first of the fillies to go through will remain local when joining the Graeme Richardson team.  The Duporth x Silk Pins filly going for $80,000.

The international trend continued when Bloodstock agent Dermot Farrington paid $50,000 for the Pins x The Iffraaj Dame filly.  She was followed by the O'Reilly x Vouvray colt who was knocked down for $80,000.

Tomorrow's selling will kick off with lot 317 the Savabeel x Heat Storm colt, followed by the remaining 11 Premier lots.
