We have had several parades this week, with the yearlings getting into the routine of presenting themselves for inspection. We have had Champion Thoroughbreds visit, who currently have Slumberland (Rip Van Winkle x Ruud Van Slaats), a half to Lot 51 in our current draft.
Te Akau Racing have also been out, with David Ellis, Jamie Richards and champion Singapore trainer Mark Walker joined by Sir Peter Vella and Joe Walls. We have built a successful relationship with Te Akau over the years, both selling them some very successful horses and having them train various Trelawney owned gallopers. Most recently the Warplan Racing Stable has had success with David Ellis purchasing Singapore Horse of the Year War Affair, Gr.1 winner War Horse, and recent Singapore winner Classified. Trelawney raced Smashing and Vinevale are also currently in the stable.
Yearlings of the week
Lot 367 O’Reilly x Laurinel Princess filly
Two time Australian winner Laurinel Princess comes from the family of Champion South African 2yo Palace Line, Gr.2 winner Laurinel Argie, and Champion 3yo miler and Intermediate horse Mr. Line.
Laurinel Princess has had a winner since the pedigree went to print, Hong Kong based Who Else But You won for Paul O’Sullivan.
This filly has a nice length of rein and stands well over ground. An athletic type, she has an intelligent head and should furnish out into a nice 3yo type.
Lot 367 Mastercraftsman x La Sizeranne colt
La Sizeranne was a super race mare; with an Australian Gr.2 to her name and consistently running in the money at elite level. She has had three winners to date, including the Australian stakes winning 2yo Za Moulin Rouge (Street Cry). The most recent is Lucky Profit who won earlier this week in Hong Kong. It is a current family which will hopefully produce black type pedigree updates leading into the sale, with the likes of Tavago and Imperial Lass already doing so.
This is a good sized colt who still has a lot of growing to do. He has nice bone and is a balanced individual moves well.
