Trainer Chris So has Hong Kong Sprint ambition for rising Fabulous One
14 Dec 2015

The international day undercard has long been a pointer to future success and Chris So Wai-yin certainly hopes the trend can continue with Fabulous One (Elusive City x Beautiful Unicorn) after the exciting sprinter continued his rapid ascension through the grades.

Fabulous One is unbeaten in four starts this season and will be on the brink of Class One once handicappers assess his one and three-quarter length win – but So has much bigger things in mind.

“Hopefully we are back here next year and in the Hong Kong Sprint,” he said.

Australian jockey Craig Williams was aboard for the first time and said the fact he was able to ride the gelding in trackwork was key.

“It’s fine watching replays, but to get on him at trackwork helped me get a really good understanding of him and that helped us get a result today,” Williams said.

“Whatever he has done so far is a bonus.

“He has been well handled and managed, he is going to be even better next season.”

Fabulous One was a $28,000 purchase from Trelawney's 2013 NZB Select draft. -SCMP
